| Subject: | Increasing Per Mile Amount of Annual Maintenance Payments |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that would amend Title 75 (Vehicles) to increase the annual maintenance payment rate from the State Highway Transfer Restoration Restricted Account. My bill would raise the amount from $4,000 per mile to $6,000 per mile and going forward would be adjusted annually for inflation based on the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers for the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland area as determined by the United States Department of Labor. The current rate was established in 2006 and is woefully inadequate to cover actual expenses involved in actual maintenance. I ask that you please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation that provides assistance to the municipalities in our legislative districts. |
