Subject: Co-Sponsorship: WHITE - Battalion Chief Michael R. Goodwin, Sr. Memorial Highway
 
In the near future, I will introduce legislation to honor Battalion Chief Michael R. Goodwin, Sr.

The bill will designate a portion of State Route 1013 in Philadelphia County as the Michael R. Goodwin, Sr. Memorial Highway

Battalion Chief Goodwin was a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Following an honorable discharge from the United States Navy in 1983, Michael R. Goodwin, Sr. joined the Philadelphia Fire Department in September 1983. He rose through the ranks through promotion to lieutenant in 2003, captain in 2008, and battalion chief posthumously.

Battalion Chief Michael R. Goodwin, Sr. answered his final call on April 6, 2013. Sacrificing himself to protect the people of Philadelphia, he fell approximately 20 feet through the roof of the burning building.
