Subject: | Sports Betting Resolution |
In the next few days, I will be introducing a Resolution urging Congress to lift the federal ban on sports betting and to allow Pennsylvania – and all states that authorize, license and regulate casino gaming - to legalize sports betting through its licensed facilities. Sports betting in the United States totals an estimated $400 billion per year, with only 1% taking place in legal form. Fantasy sports betting draws in an estimated 57 million participants. The reality is that not only has the perception of sports betting changed over the years, but the ways in which to participate in some form of sports betting has greatly increased. States that already authorize, license and regulate casino gaming are uniquely positioned to oversee sports betting, in all its forms, if they so choose. The time has come for the federal government to allow the state’s to make their own decisions on sports betting. I respectfully ask that you give your consideration to co-sponsoring this Resolution. |
