Subject: | Co-Sponsorship: Recognizing November as "Military Family Appreciation Month' |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution designating the month of November 2015 as “Military Family Appreciation Month” in Pennsylvania. Each year, the President signs a proclamation declaring November “Military Family Month,” thus beginning a month-long celebration of military families for their commitment and contributions made every day in support of the military and our nation. The Department of Defense will acknowledge the commitments and sacrifices of the families of Active, Guard and Reserve members, working together with military bases, community leaders and businesses in recognizing these families with special events throughout the month. Our Commonwealth is home to military service members and families representing every branch of the armed forces. Military service members make noble sacrifices for the American people every day, and we cannot honor the men and women in uniform enough for that. It is important that we also honor the most personal support systems of the military service members - their families. Military families confront difficult and prolonged challenges in being separated from their loved ones or in being relocated to bases across the country or across the world. In the face of such separation and uncertainty, military families are a dependable source of love and support for service members. Pennsylvania is proud to recognize and honor the families of our service members, who, through their love, support, and sacrifice also help ensure our continued freedom, liberty and way of life. Please join me in helping designate the month of November 2015 as “Military Family Appreciation Month” in Pennsylvania, in honor of the Commonwealth’s military families. |
