Subject: Special License Plate for Antique Military Vehicles

In the near future, I plan to reintroduce HB 1834 of 2013-14, permitting the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to issue a special license plate for antique military vehicles.

The collection and restoration of antique military vehicles provides our communities a unique opportunity to display and share the history of military vehicles. Functioning and working antique military vehicles are living pieces of history, not a picture or museum relic, and serve to remember and honor the sacrifices of military veterans, whose services to our country protects our freedoms.

Antique military vehicles were built and designed to serve a specific purpose vastly different from other antique vehicles. A unique antique military license plate affords collectors and restorers of antique military vehicles, who are often passionate about preserving and sharing military history and enjoy opportunities to display and discuss their vehicles, an opportunity for distinct recognition.

This legislation requires the antique military license plate to be an olive drab color, an easily recognized military color, and limits the use of the plate to participation in: club activities, exhibits, tours, parades, and similar events.

Please join me in sponsoring this legislation that honors and remembers our military veterans.
