Subject: Request for Cosponsorship - Establishing Spending Limits (Prior HB 373)
 
In the near future I intend to reintroduce legislation (prior HB373) that will amend the Article VIII, Section 18 of the Pennsylvania Constitution to establish spending limits that the Commonwealth must abide by each fiscal year. The proposed constitutional amendment will limit the rate at which the Commonwealth’s total spending may increase. The rate will be determined by applying the lower of:
  • The change in the Consumer Price Index for all Urban Consumers during the previous fiscal year; or
  • The change in population during the previous fiscal year.
Our constituents cannot afford a government that spends like there is no tomorrow. It is time for us to stand up and demand that it stop.
