Subject: | Direct Wine Shipment |
Currently out-of-state retailers of wine may obtain a direct shipper's permit through the PLCB. However, the permit limits the amount of wine to be shipped to 9 liters per month per resident and excludes any wines currently available for sale through the State Stores. Further, the wine cannot be shipped directly to a resident's home; rather the wine must be picked up a State Store by the purchaser. My legislation will expand the direct shipment of wine to allow any winery (in-state or out-of-state) to obtain a permit and ship any quantity of wine to the consumer for their personal consumption, provided that they provide proof of age. The winery will still be required to collect the 6% sales tax and the 18% Johnstown Flood Tax and remit these taxes to the Department of Revenue.. CS/cmc |
