MEMORANDUM

Posted: December 9, 2014 11:06 AM
From: Representative John D. Payne
To: All House members
Subject: Parking at Capitol Complex - former HB 2500 of 2013-14 Session

I have been contacted by the Department of General Services (DGS) on a problem with our employees parking spaces being utilized by Harrisburg City visitors and employees.

Since 1973, parking fines have been only $5.00 at the Capitol Complex parking areas. In 2014, the City of Harrisburg increased their parking fines to $30.00.

I plan to re-introduce legislation that would change the fine structure in the Vehicle Code to keep it consistent with the City of Harrisburg. This will help to prevent additional employee parking issues. If people can park in a Commonwealth space for $5.00 instead of paying $30.00 for Harrisburg, they will do that every day.

Introduced as HB51
