| Subject: | Legislation to raise the dollar limit under the Uniform Transfers to Minors Act |
| In the near future, I will reintroduce legislation, House Bill 2285. This piece of legislation would raise the dollar limit under the Uniform Transfers to Minors Act. In working with groups within the legal community, including the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the need has been expressed to update the act by raising the limit to $50,000, from the current $25,000. The last time the statute was changed was 1999, when the dollar limit was changed from $10,000 to the current $25,000. Given the passage of time, it may well be appropriate to raise the dollar limit again. |
